A Rise to Duty

Its been quite a while since the outbreak.  At first I didn't believe it.  I refused too.  That hope has gone away along with all others.  I always thought that zombies was just a work of fiction.  A mere figment of the imagination that made for a good story.  Just like fairies and ghosts.  Boy was I wrong.
People call me Bubbles.  I'm 21 and from Little Rock, AR.  I've been doing some investigating and I don't see a cure as a possibility as of now.  I had a lab.  The reason I never started a blog earlier, though I did have a video diary not released on the internet saved on my computer.  My computer is gone now along with my notes, my progress, my data.  Everything is gone.  It was futile anyways.  The best we can do is just kill them and destroy them till there's no more.  Ashes to ashes.  They all fall down.
Up to this point, I've been able to survive from my lab.  It was a case like I Am Legend.  I lived by rationing the food.  Not hard when everyone else only eats flesh and not grapes or cabbage.  Its been a long time since I've had meat.  Hunting isn't as fruitful as it once was.  Since the undead bastards are competing for the same food sources, it gets pretty difficult.  Its hard to shoot a deer that's being mutilated by a horde of animated bodies.  Even harder when you run a mile trying to escape them, and forget where the damn deer is.
I'm just thankful I was able to grab my laptop before I had to blow the place to Hell.  Fucking zombies invaded the place and I had to flee, detonating the 1,500 pounds of C4 I had booby-trapped the place with, waiting for the right boobs. I was able to hack a wifi connection from a busted up, run-down McDonald's to connect me to the internet, though it wasn't easy.  My laptop had none of my notes but it did have my contact information.  I was able to contact an old friend.  The Shadow.  He is in Little Rock, and we have set up meeting and are heading off to some other location in, as he described, "A big ass truck."  I'm glad to see he's still alive, and even happier to see that I'm getting out of here to some more survivors.  Maybe one day this will end.  Maybe not.  All we can do is hope.
I hear some strange noises coming from outside, I'll try to keep posted.  Until next time, watch your fucking neck!
